Welcome to the Christ Church
Sunday School!
We offer Sunday morning Christian education and nurture for
children from infants through Eighth Grade. Classes and Nursery care begin
at 9:15 a.m. on the second and third floors of our education wing. Our
Church School is a "cooperative" program, meaning that we request each family
(e.g., parent or parents) to volunteer to help with one aspect of the program or
another. For example, you can help with the Christmas Pageant or another
event throughout the year, or you can be on our "In a Pinch" list, where we will
call/email you when there is a specific need.
This year, we welcome a dynamic group of teachers to our
grade school classes. They will ensure that your child has a rich, fun and
consistent learning experience each week. We offer the following classes:
-
Godly Play (ages 3-5)
-
Kindergarten - 1st grade
-
2nd and 3rd grade
-
4th and 5th grade
-
6 and 7th grade
-
8th grade
Kindergarten through 5th grade classes use
Weaving God's Promises, and for the Middle School grades, we are
using Living the Good News, both from Morehouse Education
Resources. Additionally, each student above 1st grade will receive a
handbook providing key and age-calibrated learning blocks of the Episcopal
tradition. Classes run until approximately 10:00 am, and teachers
escort their students to the Sanctuary so that they are in church for
announcements, blessings and communion.
Almighty God, heavenly
Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children: Give us calm
strength and patient wisdom as we bring them up,
that we may teach them to
love whatever is just and true and good,
following the example of our
Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
