Search Committee Update
:: 05.06.08
In keeping with our commitment to keep the congregation
informed of our progress in the search for a new Rector, the following is an
update of our activities since the last communication.
Following meetings with Canon Carter Echols of the Church
Deployment Office and Leslie Smith the search committee finalized its CDO
profile and posted it on the National Church Website advertising our open
position.
A subcommittee traveled to Newark to use the national church
website to match our profile with profiles of likely candidates. At the present
time we are reviewing and evaluating the initial batch of initial batch of profiles.
Letters will be sent to those who appear to be a possible match, asking that
they review our Parish Profile and submit an application if they feel they are a
good match for us.
We also have received some recommendations from our
parishioners. Each of these potential applicants will receive a letter
indicating that they were recommended and an invitation to apply.
It’s important to note that the best applicants come from the church’s
parishioners. Please help the committee by referring a candidate you may know or
have heard of.
Next steps include evaluating the submitted information from
all sources and identifying those whom we will interview by phone.
The cut off for receiving applications is June 15.
As of the time of the Annual Meeting, May 4th, we
continue to receive profiles from interested candidates. All will be reviewed.
During our Annual Meeting Co-Chair Hook Bailey reviewed the committee’s progress
to date and answered questions, including the following:
-
Are we an attractive church for a prospective
candidate? Yes, as reinforced by Leslie.
-
Why have we set a deadline for applications? Canon
Echols advised us that candidates will wait until the last minute to respond
and the best way to manage that is to set a deadline.
-
What are we looking for as a church? Check out the
profile which clearly defines our mission.
As always we welcome and encourage all questions and
comments. Members of the Search Committee are accessible and listed below.
Additionally if you prefer to email questions or comments to the committee as a
whole use the following group email account which the committee is using to
facilitate communication with each other:

Search Committee Update ::
04.10.08
The Search Committee for our new Rector
had their first meeting Tuesday evening the 8th
of April. At that time the committee received an introduction to the search
process from Canon Carter Echols of the Church Deployment Office, Diocese of
Newark. The committee was able to ask questions of Canon Echols and generally
put the process into perspective as we move forward.
As the Search Committee progresses we
will make every effort to keep the congregation informed of any new developments
and where we are in the process. These communications will come in the form of
the weekly bulletin, the monthly e-messenger as well as the Messenger. Also,
look for a new link on the
Christ Church
in Short Hills website named “Rector Search”. It is on this site that we will
archive past communications and post any other relevant information.
The committee is scheduled to meet with Canon Echols to
review a list of potential matches generated by the Church Deployment Office
based on our parish profile.
As always we welcome and encourage all
questions and comments. Members of the Search Committee are accessible and
listed below. Additionally if you prefer to email questions or comments to the
committee as a whole use the following group email account which the committee

the names of potential candidates that they feel would be a good match for our
